How In-Browser PDF Decryption & Restriction Removal Works
PDF documents contain internal security dictionaries that enforce permissions such as disallowing printing, copying text, or editing content. When you know the authorized password but wish to permanently remove the restriction for archival convenience, PDFSense performs this decryption entirely within your browser memory. When you provide the password, our JavaScript cryptographic module parses the /Encrypt dictionary, verifies the hash against the /U or /O entries, and calculates the symmetric decryption key. The engine then sequentially decrypts every encrypted object stream, recalculates unencrypted stream lengths, and strips the /Encrypt reference from the document trailer dictionary. A clean, unrestricted PDF file is then synthesized and saved to your device. No passwords or decrypted streams are ever transmitted over external networks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can PDFSense crack or brute-force a forgotten password?
No. PDFSense is a security-conscious utility that decrypts files using the valid password you provide. We do not provide illegal password cracking services.
Is it safe to enter my banking or payroll password into this tool?
Yes, because the decryption algorithm executes 100% on your device's browser CPU. No keystrokes or passwords are ever sent to an external server.
Does unlocking a PDF damage embedded signatures or forms?
Decryption simply removes the cryptographic wrapper and permission flags; all page objects, vector art, and form elements remain pristine.
Will the downloaded PDF ever ask for a password again?
No. Once the encryption dictionary is stripped, the file becomes standard open PDF document that opens immediately on any device.
